Abstract：Dalian Port has a long and illustrious history. As the largest port in northern China during the modern era, second only to Shanghai Port, it held immense military and strategic significance. Serving as a crucial maritime hub, it connected ports in Japan, South Korea, North Korea, and other regions. Based on archival drawings and literature, this study takes the construction of Dalian Military Port in the late Qing Dynasty as the starting point. It systematically elucidates the design trajectory and construction process of Dalian Port during the periods of Russian and Japanese occupation. The study explores the pioneering nature of modern Dalian Port engineering in terms of construction concepts, techniques, and processes. It focuses on the institutions and individuals who played important roles in port construction and delves deeply into the historical value of the engineering technology associated with modern Dalian Port.
