Abstract:The construction of ritual space within vernacular settlement plays a crucial role in the inheritance and protection of regional ethnic culture. Based on field research conducted in Keyi Village, Mile, Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province, this study employs the dynamic observation method of scene theory, combined with oral history interviews of ritual inheritors. It focuses on the transformation of the “Axitiaoyue” ritual from its inception to its modern adaptation, exploring how ritual behavior evokes the spatial characteristics of the scene. Through an in-depth analysis of how the “tiaoyue” ritual shapes the architectural space, the study reveals that ritual space is interwoven with the daily practices of the ritual, social relationships, as well as patterns of consumption and dissemination. The study aims to provide inspiration for the development of ritual space, and support the preservation and revitalization of ritual traditions in vernacular settlements.
