Abstract：This study, with two cultural identities as a clue, manages to sort out the process of identity of modern Beijing and Tokyo on western historicism, modernism and subsequent ideological trend, and analyzes the identity of background and performance of the two in the periods of acceptance, development, resistance and the deepening. Then through the comparison of the two, it concludes that Beijing’s identity process is lagging behind (after modernism), the attitude is compromised, and the depth is insufficient. Finally, based on the experience of Tokyo architectural culture identity, it concludes that Beijing needs an open attitude to enter the international platform, and at the same time the attention to architectural traditional culture should turn from morphological aesthetics to deep values in order to achieve the deep cultural identity.
