Abstract：It is deemed an essential step to improve community elderly care service facilities in building elderly-oriented communities and an important condition to achieve indigenous care for the aged. This paper investigates three relatively well-equipped elderly care service stations within the Bajiao Sub-District in Shijingshan District, Beijing, where the distance from users of full-time care, meal service and home care to the stations is observed for the discussion of reasonable service radius. In addition, an observational survey of dailylife activities among elderly users taking full-time care and how meal service is enjoyed by the aged from neighboring communities is conducted to study specific behaviors of stations’ users and their needs in service spaces. Based on this, the paper offers suggestions that are key to designing functional spaces in such stations, in a bid to better spaces and surroundings for community elderly services.
