Abstract:The healthy and low-carbon development of cities is a systemic issue. Conducting pilot practices in urban built-up areas with composite functions, systematic integration, and high density and capacity are not only more pressing but also more likely to yield effective results. The urban central railway station area represented by the “Ever Bright City”, namely Shanghai railway Station area, is such a typical example that is currently facing severe challenges in sustainable transformation while also holding significant potential for healthy and low-carbon renewal. Starting from the core urban value of the “Ever Bright City”, this paper analyzes the internal and external limiting factors behind the current systemic urban problems of regional stagnation by reviewing the 40-year construction history. Finally, combined with the development experience of international advanced station-city cases led by healthy and low carbon, it proposes the urban system renewal strategy for the sustainable development of the “Ever Bright City”.
