Abstract:In the context of open block planning, which is actively promoted by the government, the existing research of the opening strategy of boundary space (such as that of the campus) still lacks quantitative analysis of the opening demands. Starting from the concept of “people-oriented” in Environmental Behavior Theory, this paper makes a study on Wuhan University and investigates the open potential of campus boundary by analyzing the characteristics of user behavior and the cost of travel time. Based on the analysis of behavioral trajectory data, it finds that there is a need of promoting vitality in the boundary areas. The areas needed to be urgently opened can be identified through OD cost matrix analysis. According to the above analysis results and the spatial status of field investigation, the boundary sections with open conditions are selected for spatial optimization, and the optimization effect is evaluated in ArcGIS. Finally, the paper discusses the feasibility of applying this analysis method to block level as well as its positive significance for the promotion of open blocks.
