Abstract:With the high-density development of the city, the vertical urban model of compact complex function in the urban central area has become the main way to solve the coupling between the complex function of the urban public activity center and the diversity of urban life in the future. For vertical cities with diversified complex functions, it is a major challenge as how to deal with the effective combination of various urban functions, solve the circulation organization of the complex flow of people, and then create a beautiful and harmonious urban living place. This paper puts forward two key concepts for vertical cities to reflect urban characteristics, namely, the urban functional organization covering the whole life chain and a set of three-dimensional public space system which can connect all kinds of urban functions and enrich urban life. On this basis, this paper puts forward a three-dimensional urban public space system model and its design guideline based on the path node network of “Super Pedestrian Block Model”. It is applied to create a three-dimensional public space system including streets, squares, parks, and other urban daily living spaces similar to traditional urban public space, in order to provide a reference for the future practice of the concept of compact city development.
