Abstract:With the transformation from the Li-fang system to the neighborhood system, street vendor activities in ancient cities were accepted by the public life as an important daily commodity selling behavior. In modern times, street vendor activities became an urban problem due to the construction of main roads and the control of social reformers over street use. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the management of street vendors in public life went through different stages of development. Generally speaking, street vendors were“shut out”. At present, the street vendor activities are of great value in the street public space, both in terms of the needs of street public life and street vendors. Street vendor activities should return to the street public life. The premise of return is the inclusiveness of the street public space, and the way of return includes the flexible management and micro-update of the street public space.
