Abstract：With the acceleration of social and economic development and urbanization, cities are consistently changing, and a large number of old buildings in important urban areas are subject to renewal and reconstruction. It has become a direction of urban design as how to use urban design techniques, meticulous and orderly promotion of building renovation and transformation to achieve the goal of making up space fabric, upgrading functional formats and continuing city characteristics. This paper looks at the transformation of Haitian Hotel, an important landmark building in Qingdao coastal space and analyzes the concept and technique of urban design in the process of architectural renovation.
