Abstract：Contemporary kindergarten design is often constrained by urban high-density and quantitative standards. The theoretical framework of “inherent system” and “free system” is introduced into the design as a response to the constraints and explorations in the kindergarten construction process. The integration of the two systems develops at three levels: plan overlaping, form generation and surface construction. It is intended that the mutual verification of theory and practice will provide some useful inspiration for the design of contemporary kindergartens.
