Abstract：The inheritance and reinvention of traditional architectural craft in Japanese contemporary architectural practice have become a distinct“Japanese Interest”and achieved remarkable achievements. This paper analyses the Japanese architects’way of translation of traditional roof from three aspects:“roof and spatial relevance”, “inheritance and transformation of traditional roof structure”and“structural innovation responding to the traditional roof intention”. Through this study, it reveals the concept of Japanese architects’translation of traditional architectural culture, and hopes to be helpful for Chinese architectural design.
