Abstract:Based on field measurement and numerical simulation of a complex university library atrium in the cold region under natural ventilation, this paper analyzes the influence of atrium form on its thermal environment and provides reference for the atrium design of university library in the cold region. The results indicates that under the condition of natural ventilation, horizontal platform in the atrium space can significantly reduce the solar heat gain in the lower part of the platform, alleviate the convergence degree of hot airflow in the upper area and improve the thermal comfort level in the atrium space. However, it will also weaken the chimney effect of atrium, and reduce the thermal comfort level of the surrounding space.
