Abstract:This paper focuses on the process of creating a large immersive and interactive art installation, which is an interdisciplinary cooperation between artists, architects and technical experts in different fields. Through computing and analyzing the most reasonable design of the perforated rate and the aperture of the outer skin in each part of the installation while adhering to the principle of locality, the design achieved better thermal management, self-adaptation management and daylight control, and provided more comfortable immersive art experiences. The design connected art, urban public space and architectural science, expanded the dimension of lighting technology and the artistic vision, inspired the artist’s experimental innovation, and created immersive, interactive and sharable art experience. It is an exploration to solve complex urban problems, and presents a way to integrate art into urban development and allow the form of public art to become an engine to enhance the vitality of urban public space and trigger the “micro-renewal” of the city.
