Abstract:Spatial perception is a representative ability in design activities. However, limited by technological development and existing architectural design teaching models, there are few studies on the effectiveness of 3D visualization models based on MR technology in improving students’small-scale space spatial perception. This article extracts the basic architectural design skills embodied in design steps and phased design results from the traditional architectural design teaching process. On this basis, it classifies and summarizes the specific application of spatial perception in architectural design results. Finally, with the help of controlled experiments, it compares the similarities and differences between MR models mode and traditional mode in promoting students’spatial perception. The results show that, compared with the traditional drawings and models, in the complex models, MR models mode have a better effect on students’spatial perception in terms of functional division, interior space, sunlight and orientation and facade material. In the simple model, the improvement effect of spatial perception on building scale is better.
