A Way to Reuse Rural Industrial Building: Possibility and Feasibility of Transforming Idle State-owned Grain Depots into Centralized Isolation Points for Epidemic Infectious Diseases
Abstract:The system of epidemic prevention facilities in the small towns was somewhat weak when facing a large number of isolation needs in the early stage of COVID-19 outbreak. By analyzing and comparing the similarity or correlation between the grain depot and the centralized isolation point of epidemic infectious diseases in the spatial distribution, the principle of site selection, zoning layout, spatial and structural characteristics, and environmental mediation technology, this article discusses the possibility and feasibility of transforming idle state-owned grain depots into isolation points for epidemic infectious diseases. Based on the transforming design case study of the grain depot in Tangwang Township, Jintan, Changzhou, Jiangsu, the participation of grain depot in the construction of the emergency and epidemic prevention facility network system will provide a way for the reuse of rural industrial buildings.
