Abstract:Landscape urbanism takes landscape as a lens to observe the city, as well as a structural carrier of the city, providing a new perspective and a new paradigm for dealing with uncertainty, process and dynamic in the urban development. Landscape urbanism is based on investigation and research that fully explore site history and establish close connection with the context. It focuses on the landscape’s functional performance, exerts the site’s natural ecological instincts, and enhances the city’s resilience. It emphasizes phased design, responding to the constantly changing natural ecological processes and socio-cultural needs. It also creates an integrated and connected multi-scale network. In short, it realizes the co-prosperity of economy, society and ecology. Taking the winning entries of Soochow University in ASLA and IFLA student competitions as examples, this paper introduces the teaching practice under the guidance of landscape urbanism theory, demonstrates its innovative and creative value in the teaching practice of landscape architecture, and provides new perspectives for the teaching and practice of landscape architecture.
