Abstract:Night market, as an informal commercial space, often influened by social and economic factors in the city. Morever, it is closely related to urban structure and people’s behavior. In this article, we take Harbin as an example. Firstly, we use segment map analysis to collect syntactic data such as the degree of integration choice,the node count and the total depth. Then, we complete the correlation analysis between syntactic data and traffic flow to quantify the spatial distribution of the night market. Next, we conducted field investigations on 30 typical night markets in Harbin, using multiple regression analysis to study the impact factors such as the size, the space and the format of the night market. Finally, through quantitative research and qualitative analysis, we form the optimization strategies for night markets in cold regions. We hope this article will provide reference for night market design and optimization in future.
