Abstract：Urban design programming has become an important part of urban design, and its effective guidance for urban design is widely recognized. However, the current working mode has some limitations, which cannot meet the needs of high-quality urban development in China. This paper explores the working mode of urban design programming from four aspects of mechanism, mode, method and guidance. Through the project of Yangliuqing Grand Canal National Cultural Park, it discusses in detail the establishment of a multidisciplinary team to lead the programming, so that the programming runs through the whole cycle of the project, guides the design of urban space and architectural space, participates in the operation process, and stimulates the vitality of the cultural park with cultural events..
