Abstract:Sleep is an integral part of health. As a positive element in the building environment, light is the main driver of the sleep-wake cycle. This paper briefly summarizes the representative results and related standards in the field of building luminous environment and healthy sleep, and focuses on the effects of artificial light at night on sleep from two aspects of differences in visual needs and metrics of luminous environment. Furthermore, it presents the future research prospects and challenges of healthy luminous environment in China, with a view to establishing a building luminous environment system most suitable for healthy sleep and promoting the overall development of healthy buildings.
