Abstract：From the 1950s to 1970s, under the influence of Chinese modern nationalist architectural thoughts and Western post-war pluralistic modern architectural thoughts, the architectural circles in Taiwan Region developed the design method of modern imitation of traditional architecture and carried out a series of practical explorations. The exploration of the design method under this complex historical background continued the dualistic characteristics of“Chinese tradition”and“Western modernity”in the development of modern Chinese architecture, developed the “new national form” modern Chinese architectural design method in the Republic of China, and had a close relationship with modern architectural design schools such as Mies’late style, elegance, coarseness and Japanese new traditionalism. It was an important way and representation for Taiwan modern architecture to be incorporated into the development framework of modern Chinese architecture.
