Abstract：Through the investigation of a group of Soviet-style main buildings of universities in China during the socialist revolution and construction period (1949-1976), this paper analyzes the differences between their facade features and those of the Soviet Union’s. It finds that the main buildings of China’s universities are mainly reflected in similar composition rather than similar proportion, and the main buildings of tower-style composition have actually changed into two other localized main building forms in the process of its localization. This research not only provides support and scientific basis for the renewal of these historical campuses, but also helps to study architectural culture after the founding of the New China.
