Abstract:In view of the main challenges of evacuation safety design in urban deep underground space, and through analyzing the relationship between deep underground space disasters, evacuation facilities’ characteristics, occupants’behaviors and evacuation strategies, this research proposes three types of sub-safety solutions and their design features to major evacuation problems. It then analyzes the three-stage evacuation strategy using three types of sub-safety areas in deep underground spaces. Finally, it discusses the main design modes of different types of sub-safety areas with case studies. This research provides a reference for the early evacuation safety design stage of urban deep underground engineering projects to ensure the safety of people’s lives and properties.
