Research on the Emotional Restorative Effects in Classical Gardens from the Perspective of Private Activities: The Case of Master of Nets Garden in Suzhou
Abstract：Privacy is a basic type of psychological needs of human. Its restorative function has been paid increasing attention by the academia. Chinese classical gardens is a kind of restorative environment with universal academic recognition. This paper mainly focuses on its promotion mechanism and emotional restorative effects of private activities in garden spaces. In this study of Master of Nets Garden in Suzhou, the key physiological indicators and emotional experiences reflecting the recovery effect of the subjects are sampled throughout the whole process and visualized for presentation, with the data change during private activities being focused on. It then verifies the unique emotional restorative effects brought forth by private activities quantitatively, and furthermore statistically summarizes the environmental preference factors of private activities related to restorative effects in garden spaces.
