Abstract：The general library of South China University of Technology (SCUT) has undergone a number of renovations. The renovation started in 2014 and ended in 2017. On the basis of the original building, the renovation was carried out under the general policy of “keeping the old and adapting the new”. The design mainly retained the original building’s own characteristics and construction wisdom, and the inner space and circulation were “connected and opened up”, realizing the spatial pattern and flowing space of the integration of collection and reading, and incorporating the new green wisdom method. At the same time, new and innovative methods were adopted to represent the “SCUT elements”, and the future development of the library was also taken into account.
