Abstract:In view of the “absence” of architects in the research and practice of prefabricated buildings, this paper puts forward the establishment of a systematic scientific point of view and an integrated design approach to correctly understand, treat and develop prefabricated buildings. Through analysis of the binary synthesis of the material and the intangible of architecture, it defines the material nature of architecture, and the four systems of structure, cladding, MEP and interior in prefabricated buildings. It finally proposes that the construction process of prefabricated buildings be re-organized, and set up a systematic integrated design approach integrating construction, structure, MEP and interior, and also integrating design, manufacturing and prefabrication.
