Abstract:In view of the cognitive problem of substantiality and virtuality of street interface, this paper presents a virtual components of street interface-“gap”. It proposes five basic configurations of“gap”and the concept of street interface rhythm. With the space perception theory and psychophysics, it tries to use the description method of waveform and establishes parameters such as“frequency, amplitude, stability”etc. It also conducts the quantitative expression of the differences in street interface rhythm from the perspective of cognition. This quantitative method can effectively represent the main characteristics of the interface rhythm of different street spaces. It has important research and application value to grasp the interface characters and cognition of walking activity.
