Searching a New Way for the Development of Modern Architecture in Taiwan: Conversation with the Female Architect Wang Chiu-Hwa, the Alumni of the Architectural Department of Central University
Abstract:Wang Chiu-Hwa, who graduated from Architectural Department of Central University before 1949 and contributed greatly to library design, humanity and care for people in design, is regarded as one of the prominent and top female architects during the development of modern architecture in Taiwan. Through the oral account about her education, professional practice and design ideas, this paper provides further understanding of the early Chinese architectural education and the architects who worked in Taiwan after 1949 but received professional education in Chinese mainland, and explores the relationship between the early Chinese architectural education and the development of modern architecture in Taiwan.
