Abstract：In recent decades, interview has gradually become a method widely adopted by architectural historians. In May 2022, the fifth Symposium on Oral History of Architecture in China will be held, where the academic convener is Professor Lai Delin, the same as the last four symposiums. This article presents an interview with Professor Lai, who introduces 1) the origin and organization of the first Symposium; 2) his experiences and methods of conducting interviews; and 3) his thoughts on the theories, mechanisms of development and potential topics of oral history of architecture in China. By doing so, the article portrays the oral history of architecture in contemporary China from the inside and from a historiographical perspective.
