Abstract：Based on the overall understanding of the current rural construction environment of China, and beyond the binary opposite concept of city and countryside, the “technological network” links technology and place together and brings inspiration to the rural practice of Atelier XUK. In this article, material is structured with a parallel manner. One thread describes the occurrence history of a “technical network” through the clue of Shiyong Wujin Shouce, based on the investigation of oral history and text analysis. Another thread dissects a node in the “technological network”— tracking the specific technical process of a prop factory, and summarizing findings in the periodic investigation based on anthropological fieldwork. With the investigation, this article aims to explore possible inspiration of “technological network” to architects in the context of regeneration of generic vernacular architecture in the countryside of China.
