Study on Environmental Discernment and Style Continuity Strategy in the Conservation and Regeneration of Vernacular Building Heritage: A Case Study of Mugou Village
Abstract：According to the conservation principles and measures proposed in The Charter on the Built Vernacular Heritage (1999), this paper takes Mugou Village, a traditional water settlement in northern Jiangsu, as an example, firstly summarizes the rural geomorphic features and current issues, and then puts forward conservation and regeneration strategies from two aspects of environmental discernment and style continuity of rural building heritage. The study explores the protective way of vernacular building from different scales and angles, verifies the feasibility of conservation and regeneration theory in practice, and poses guidance and reference significance on the development of the same type of rural development
