Abstract：In view of the problems faced by the outpatient departments of large general hospitals in China during the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), this paper summarizes the research progress of domestic and foreign medical pandemic prevention systems in architectural space planning and design. Based on the analysis of the requirement of outpatient spaces during the pandemic, it focuses on infection prevention, efficient design, flexible design and humanity design, and through the study of domestic and foreign design cases, puts forward optimization strategies for outpatient departments in general hospitals under the background of normalized pandemic prevention. It is expected that these strategies provide a safe, efficient, and humanized outpatient diagnosis and treatment environment for doctors and patients, and promote risk response capabilities while ensuring normal operations for general hospitals in order to build a more resilient smart hospital.
