Abstract：People have began to revert to rational thinking about the utilization of urban space resources, from the blind pursuit of incremental planning to the focus on stock planning and fine quality improvement. This article traces back to the theoretical and practical dimensions of the concept development of urban small-micro public spaces mainly through literature review and logical analysis. It also sorts out the problems and challenges that the current urban public spaces encounter, while the emerging of small-micro public spaces is an inevitable result of the development of urban spaces. It then defines the concept of small-micro public spaces in detail both from the narrow and the broad perspectives, and classifies them. The small-micro public spaces will help improve the overall construction of the public space system, and bring new possibilities and opportunities for the future development of urban public space.
