Abstract:IFD building system has a Dutch origin. It is a program developed by the Dutch government who regards IFD as a possible solution to cope with social and environmental problems. The primary motive of IFD is the improvement of the building production process, the fulfillment of the user’s demands in the future and the transformations without demolitions. As an improvement of“Open Building”, IFD building system has more definite requirements on the organization and technical details. For example, the government needs to participate in the qualification of building systems, the structural system must be flexible in order to meet the needs of demolitions, and the connection of the components should be completed with dry-joints, and so on. Now it produces much effect on the whole European construction industry. Today, the Chinese government vigorously promotes the construction of assembled buildings. IFD could be an appropriate reference sample.
