Abstract：This article studies the evolution of contemporary China’s architectural experimentation from 1978 to 2018 and uses keyword-based analyses to examine the paradigm shifts in design culture of the four primary phases of the evolution, i.e. from‘Creation’ (1978-1991) to‘Experiment’(1992-1999) to‘Ontology’(2000-2012) to‘Research’ (2012-), in order to reveal the responsive nature and changing ideas of a continuing architectural experimentation in China.
