Abstract：On the basis of analyzing the behavior of people and cars in existing residential areas, according to the difference of time of use between cars and people in the parking space, this paper puts forward the idea of space “folding”, which is based on the parking efficiency and safety of people and cars in the built environment of residential areas. Starting from the three goals of parking efficiency, safety of people and vehicles, and health promotion of the built environment in residential areas, we should pay close attention to the elements of the built environment that are closely related to public health. This paper explores the compound utilization mode of parking space in existing residential areas in cities. It provides an empirical basis for the establishment of a healthy living environment in which people and cars live in harmony.
