Abstract:As a case study, this paper focuses on the activities of the vendors at Shengli Street Corner in the former British Concession in Wuhan through microscopic angle of view, showing their strategies of occupying spaces, stating the positive significance of reusing public space and redrawing the boundary by vendors. It concludes that we should advocate more comprehensive public spaces and acknowledge diverse expressions of “public” by protecting the basic need of different people and permitting regulation and permeation of the boundary.
