Abstract:Chinese ancient buildings are excellent examples of climate adaptability. Based on the investigations of typical ancient large-space buildings in northern China, this paper studies the indoor and outdoor thermal environment, and analyzes the climate adaptation strategies through literature review and qualitative analysis. It also compares the ancient large-space buildings with other ancient vernacular dwellings in northern China, and ancient large-space buildings in southern China, in order to provide references for contemporary architectural design with climate adaptation characteristics.
