Abstract：Based on the different features of timber in traditional and contemporary period, this paper discusses the influence of the new characteristics of contemporary timber material and the new steel-wooden joint on the structural form of timber architecture. Based on studies of some representative cases, this paper analyzes six types of timber structural forms in contemporary architectural design, that of timber structure system of stratification, layered cantilever, bars and beams, compound structural system of wooden pole and steel rope, domenet system of wooden, and steel and timber system of non-liner. It then summarizes the spatial and form characteristics of wooden architecture with different structural systems.
