Abstract：The Chinese early-modern non-academic returnee architects as the first generation of architects, along with the academic architects, laid the groundwork for Chinese modern architecture. They received modern architectural education overseas, and devoted themselves to the modern development of Chinese architecture after returning, showing a multi-dimensional and multi-directional exploration of modernity. A genealogical observation for this group will help to clarify the relationship between the early exploration of Chinese architectural modernity and the modern architecture in the world, and prove that modern Chinese architectural activities in the first half of the 20th century are a branch of the genealogy of modern architecture in the world.
