Abstract:Operational policies and practices proposed for the protection of traditional residence have been the urgent topics during the current process of urban development, which have great significance in the continuation of its historical features but also in the “revitalization” of traditional community spaces. Houses of typical residential settlement in the old city of Suzhou have been selected as study samples to be renovated and updated innovatively through three aspects of “morphological protection, function regeneration and green construction” based on micro-regeneration, in order to realize the modern green revival of the traditional “neighborhood unit”.
