Abstract：This paper analyses the ubiquitous phenomenon of similarity reference in built environment and its conceptual transformation in contemporary cities. It discovers that urban form shares the common hidden logic of interactive reference based on similarity relationship,which means on the one hand people’ s construction behavior usually follows or refers to some existed precedents consciously or unconsciously, on the other hand the construction itself becomes the template of other similar constructions. Based on the computer simulation of similarity reference logic of Wuhu city, the paper investigates the growth mechanism and
process of urban vertical form and discusses the decision-making of urban vertical form in comprehensive urban design.
