Abstract：Through the historical geography analysis of the Chinese Eastern Railway (C.E.R) and post road with GIS, this study finds that the C.E.R presents the inheritance of post road in terms of general route planning, station location, development pattern and military-political management mode. Meanwhile, the C.E.R, as the Eurasian transportation channel, had greatly promoted the internationalization and modernization of urban structure and economic model in northeast China. The inheritance and development of post road in the C.E.R presents the historical applicability of the natural geographical and social cultural environment, and the inevitability of social development and technological progress. The exploration of the historical law has important practical values for fast urbanization and historical heritage protection in northeast China.
