Abstract:The relation between tradition and modernization is one of the most important themes in architecture. As one of the founders of modern architecture, Le Corbusier criticized conservatism, worship of the ancient, eclecticism and avant-garde; then he rejected the stylistic thinking, achieving the modern transformation of tradition. It is better to attribute this process ‘parallel tradition’ than ‘new tradition’. The essence of analogies or parallels is the metaphor of ideal, and the essence of parallel tradition is the eternal value, i.e. human being’s emotion. With this perspective, the relation between tradition and modernization is a false proposition.
