Abstract：This paper summarizes the material language and its innovative methods of Rem Koolhaas through analyzing his several recent projects. It then analyzes the relationship between his design concept and the material language. It finally discusses his opinion on the role of modern architecture and contemporary architect, and the attitude towards the application of traditional materials and new materials, while reflectin on the influence and significance of his design on the application of materials in the new era architectural design.
