Study on Underground Space in Front of Rail Transit Station Based on Pedestrians’ Spatio-Temporal Distribution: The Case of Underground Pedestrian System of Large Railway Station in Japan
Abstract:This paper introduces the research issues on underground space in the viewpoint of spatio-temporal distribution study, and proposes a dynamic spatial relation model between people and underground space in view of the influence of time factor. A framework of space-time behavior research is explored based on people’s spatio-temporal distribution data. With the case of an underground shopping street, the paper proposes the methods of estimating pedestrians’spatiotemporal distribution and evaluating the service level of underground pedestrian space. Spacetime behavior study aims to expand the spatial/time range of pedestrian space evaluation and make underground space design/planning prospective. It is expected to provide references for improving the environment of underground space
