Abstract:The village defensive characteristics have been changed from distinct, clear boundary, group cohesion into implicit, fuzzy boundaries, individual safety protection. In order to clarify the traditional defensive features and invariant factors, this paper tries to analyze the basic security requirements of people and space models from the environment to settlements to monomer space and tectonic pattern of the Junzidong Hakka settlements and Siege. It also investigates the spatial elements through the aspects of the centripetal space, the boundary encircles, and the high-density domain, the spatial structure through those of the lost space, lying by mountain, and distance keeping, and the spatial form through those of half-moon encircles, the Fangcheng shape and the concave space. It will hopefully provide inspirations for the design of modern spaces.
