Abstract:There are several Tang Dynasty wooden architectures around Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, which are the only architectural remains of the historical period in China. Taiyuan South Railway Station respects such historical context and reflects the regional and cultural characteristics. The main building of the station consists of a large space with a steel structure unit rising like a “tree” and providing the possibility for the free rise of the building space. The passive energy-saving technologies, such as building shading, natural ventilation and lighting, wall insulation, etc. are adopted in a forward-looking manner. This comprehensively improves the comfort of the station, and makes it a green station with demonstration effect.
