Abstract：This paper reviews the evolution of architecture in the context of the previous UIA Congress Themes. It further points out that the research on the sustainable development of built environment is the strategic demand and important direction of architecture, and green and harmonious space design is becoming the core mission of architecture. It demands further research on the interaction between people and the built environment that innovates architectural design theories and methods, so as to lead architecture back to the basic property–serving mankind and following nature.
